Updates on Andre

It’s been a while since I made a post about Andre. He’s so big and quite heavy right now. He’s 1 year and 10 months old. His second birthday is fast approaching and we’re still thinking on what to do. We have no concrete plans yet, but, I’ll probably bake cupcakes for his birthday. He’s a sweet and loving little boy. He’s a fast learner even though he does not talk that much yet. He has now 8 sets of teeth. He can now run so fast without us worrying that he might stumble. He still loves cars. His current favorite TV show is Blue’s Clues. We love watching him when he imitates Blue’s actions and sounds. He also loves the Bee Movie and imitates what Barry does during the start of the movie. He can finish his 7 oz milk in 3 minutes. He loves to eat vegetables, most especially carrots. He loves anything with noodles, like spaghetti, pancit, and soup. He can finish a small cup of taho in the morning, and eat again something afterwards. He now runs after us every time we go to the office. He enjoys going to Toy Kingdom and always goes to the toy cars section. He loves riding in cars at Quantum. He loves to do action songs. He hugs us whenever we sing Barney’s “I love you song”. He still wants to sleep between us. He loves sleeping on his dad’s arms while touching his dad’s nipple. Hehehe. We wish to train him na sana sleeping on his bed so that when I got pregnant, we won’t worry that he might kick my tummy accidentally kasi sobrang likot nya matulog. I am starting the potty training, but, it isn’t successful yet. However, he tells us whenever he pooped by pointing to his diaper and covering his nose. I discovered this video in YouTube while searching for some tips on potty training and found it cute. It’s a Japanese way of teaching your kid how to poop.

Abeth the carpenter

During the Holy Week, we stayed at home. Since we do not have any place to go, we had a general house cleaning instead. We rearranged our living room and the dining area, and placed the newly-bought kitchen organizer. Abeth threw away the billings for electricity, water, and credit cards from previous years. I fixed our closet, as well as Andre’s and segregated the clothes that doesn’t fit us anymore and put it in a box. I’ve put in boxes all the things that are not used anymore. The result? Lots of boxes! Since the apartment we’re renting has no storage room, Abeth made our own storage area. He built a shelf to put those boxes. Thanks to the air tools that he borrowed from his Uncle, it was easy for him to build the shelf. He used an air saw to cut the plywood, and a drill to fix the shelf. I’m glad he knows how to do these things because we do not need to hire a carpenter to do that. Now, the boxes are well-organized.

Spicy, peppered and deep-fried pork belly

My husband requested me to cook this peppered fried pork he had tasted in a restaurant. According to him, it is fried and seasoned with salt and pepper. So, I made my version of the dish based on his description and added some chili flakes to make a twist.  This is a very easy recipe.

Here it is…

spicy pork with salt and pepper

Ingredients:

1 kilo pork belly, sliced into ½ inch x 1 inch

2 tsp iodized salt

1 tsp ground pepper

Chili flakes (depends on how spicy you want)

Flour for coating

Cooking oil for deep frying

Procedure: Just season the pork with salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Before frying, coat the pork with flour. Cook until golden brown and serve with vinegar dip (combination of vinegar, crushed garlic, and chopped onion).

PIRATA

Watching DVDs at home is one of our family-bonding moments, or we may say siesta as well. We have a collection of our favorite movies and some TV series like Grey’s Anatomy. We always turn on the closed captioning feature for us to be able to fully understand the dialogues and sometimes copy some “quotes” from the actor’s dialogues. We bought and tried to play some “pirated” DVDs but these DVDs failed to give the exact scripts delivered by the actor on its subtitles. It’s just a waste of money. From now on, we are buying original DVDs from our local video store to be able to watch movies with a good picture quality and sound clarity. So let’s buy original copies only and say no to piracy.

Summer outing

It’s really getting hot in here. It’s summer time! Me and my officemates, together with our families, are planning to go to the beach for our summer outing. I checked on the internet to search for beautiful beaches here in the Philippines and are considering going to Batangas. Since we are going to bring in our families which will include our kids, we have to consider the rooms that we are going to rent. I wish there are room rentals here similar to Outer Banks rental homes in North Carolina. Hehehe, it’s just a wish. Kidding aside, we also look for a beach resort that offers various activities that our family and kids will surely enjoy like, banana boat, Kayak, beach volleyball, and, my favorite, snorkeling. That’s it for now. I will continue surfing the net to look for a resort and will probably make reservations as soon as I found a great one.

If given the chance…

If given the chance to travel with my family, I would like to go the Hilton Head Islands, which is located at the southern tip of South Carolina. With its beautiful beaches and flexible accommodations, our family will surely enjoy this place. There are various activities that can be made in this place like biking, fishing, and different water sports, such as parasailing, wave runners, enviro-tours, waterskiing, and sailing. My husband and I haven’t tried any of these, and if given the chance to go there, we will surely try all of these activities.

Hilton Head Island resorts and hotels are considered among the finest in the Southeast and have been designed for the outdoor-oriented visitor. They have on-site spas, swimming pools, and restaurants. And for those who want more privacy or a little more living space, there are Hilton Head rentals, which include villas and homes that offer all the comforts of home and the composure of no hassle constant service and amenities. Many Hilton Head homes and villas also include golf, tennis, dining and sightseeing packages, allowing an all-inclusive way to complete the Hilton Head Island experience.
