Hi! I came across your blog and I want to share something with you. My nephew had fever for 2 days, so dinala siya sa Sta. Rosa Gen Hosp. They said it's probably UTI or Typhoid. They ran some tests. Negative. So baka daw dengue. So they ran tests again. Platelet count was 86. Sabi ay, UTI pala. So binigyan siya ng antibiotics and supplements.

Next day, 58 nalang daw ang platelet. Sabi kailangan na siguro ng transfusion. "mukhang dengue" daw. Pero di pa rin nila confirm na dengue. By the evening, 48 nalang ang platelets. Transfusion na daw. Pero wala daw silang blood. So hanap kami ng blood. Then sabi, ay platelet concentrate na dapat, not blood. So hanap kami. Wala sa malalapit na hospitals. The next morning, text cousin ko. 36 nalang daw. So sabi ko I think we better move him to a better hospital with facilities for dengue. Kasi up to that time, doctors in Sta Rosa didn't even tell them na dengue na nga. I called my doc friend and sabi niya, critical na. Dapat transfusion na talaga. Ilipat ko na ng hospital.

So I spoke to my cousins. I checked which hospitals had. So we moved him to St. Lukes Global. Sa turnover papers nila sa St Lukes, UTI pa rin ang nakalagay. No dengue. St Lukes checked platelets, 17 nalang. So dalidali, transfusion. Umakyat ng 18, but he's feeling better.

Doctor told us that it is lucky na malakas resistence nung bata (20yo). Normally daw pag below 20, bleeding and possible coma na dapat. He was awake. After the transfusion of 4 units of platelets, umakyat to 18. Doctor said that's good. At least hindi na bumaba. It should go up gradually na with more transfusions. He is still in St. Lukes. This all happened yesterday. We transferred him yest.

The count this morning was 18. so hopefully after more transfusions today, tataas ulit.

It was a really close call. He is resting now.

I want to sue Sta Rosa Gen Hosp! Grabe sila! Critical na pero di pa nila sinabi!

Grabe ang provincial hospitals! They don't have good doctors. We almost lost him yesterday and they would have told us he died of UTI. haaay
