Weekend Lunch at Fortune Chinese Restaurant and chili picking at the side
Last December was a very busy month for all of us because of the Holiday season. This month of the year is when we normally have reunions and family gatherings. Due to very hectic schedules from work and several family gatherings, we were not able to join the reunion with Abeth’s dad family on New Year’s Day. So, we decided to visit his dad’s relatives the week after New Year.
After attending the 10am mass, we went to his dad’s hometown. But, before that, we had our lunch at Fortune Chinese Restaurant in Malolos, Bulacan. It’s an old Chinese restaurant that has been in existence for years. Abeth has been telling me that we should try eating there one day because Abeth and his officemates are regular customers of that resto everytime they had meetings. Since we had our car na (that would be another post), it’s easier for us to go to the restaurant because it’s far from our place. We ordered their house-blend Soup, Shanghai Fried Rice, Chicken in Soy Sauce, Pancit Canton, and Peppered Pork Ribs.

After lunch,we then proceeded to the relatives of Abeth’s dad. We stayed there the whole afternoon. In one of the houses of his dad’s sisters, we saw trees of siling labuyo (chili) and kalamansi (Philippine lemon), as well as Flowering trees from which Abeth took a picture of one of their flowers. Since we need the sili in our canteen, we picked lots of it and filled a 16-ounce plastic cup.
Here are the photos of the trees and flower, as well as a photo of me while picking the sili.

Planning for an out-of-town trip
As I checked this year’s calendar, I noticed that there will be lots of holidays and long weekends. Hmmm… I think it’s a good idea to have a family vacation this time because we weren’t able to have an out-of-town bonding last year. Since Andre is almost 3 years old and more grown-up now, he will surely enjoy traveling with us. If the budget permits, we wish to travel in South East Asia, which will include a trip to Phuket, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Macau.
I’m browsing the internet to find cheap beach accommodation in Phuket. We would like to try one of Thailand’s beaches because some says that they also have beautiful beaches. We would also want to go to Hong Kong Disneyland as well as Macau. We have not yet experienced an international trip and if this trip would pursue, we will need a bigger luggage for our things. I hope this trip would pursue…

Dinner at Tokyo Cafe
This is my first post for 2009 and this is one of my very long overdue posts. I have missed so many opps. ***Sigh*** Before I write about Fentraphen, I will share with you the dinner we had at Tokyo Cafe.

The pictures I am about to show you were taken last December with my officemates at Tokyo Cafe at the Mall of Asia. It was during one of our busy nights at the office. We’ve been very busy since November because year end is coming. We’ve been staying overnight at the office just to meet the deadlines. To reward ourselves, we went out and had our dinner at Tokyo Cafe. It is a fastfood type resto that offers pasta, pizza, crepes, and sandwiches.

This is their Tokyo Boneless Chicken, herbed-crusted chicken fillets served with gravy, for Php199. I think one of the herbs used is thyme.

This is their Aglio Olio Shrimp, pasta with shrimps sauteed in spicy garlic infused olive oil, for Php219.

This is their Garlic Gambas, shrimps sauteed in garlic and chili olive oil, for Php223.

This is their Ham and Cheese Sandwich, an all time classic combination of peppered ham and sharp cheese for Php129.

This is their Hamburg Sandwich, a juicy meat patty sandwich in between classic burger condiments and kaiser, for Php149.

This is one of their desserts but I can’t recall its name. However, it tastes good and was my favorite. It has cubed mango, mango ice cream, and cream.
In general, their foods are not as good as we expected because they were a bit pricey. But, we still enjoyed it. After that dinner, we went back to the office and worked again until morning. Hope you enjoyed the pics.
Ciao!
