There’s so much pain in my chest right now as I write this post after watching the opening number of the hosts and guests of the Philippine’s longest-running noontime variety show Eat Bulaga, in which Francis M was also a co-host. Francis Magalona, also known as “the Master Rapper”, passed away last Friday, March 6, due to to multiple organ failure secondary to severe sepsis and secondary to pneumonia. He was diagnosed wit leukemia in August 2008.
I am not a fan of hip-hop or rap music, but he’s the only rapper that I like. Francis M gave birth to the Pinoy rap with the release of his debut album “YO” in 1990. His kind of music is different from other local rappers because his music has a good sense. Through his kind of music, he was able to express the nationalistic part of him. He’s a proud Pinoy. With all his contributions to our country through his arts and talent, he has made us proud Filipinos, too.
I can also feel the pain of all the people who loves him as if I am also a friend of him because I know he has a good heart. It took me 2 hours to finish this short post because I am so busy watching the tribute show for him. Kaya eto, my eyes are swollen. Huhu. His passing is a big loss to the Philippines’ entertainment industry because he’s one of the best Pinoy Music artists. He’s a legend, an icon.
Here’s the lyrics of one of his songs that tells a good meaning.
Kaleidoscope World
So many faces, so many races
Different voices, different choices
Some are mad, while others laugh
Some live alone with no better half
Others grieve while others curse
And others mourn behind a big black hearse
Some are pure and some half-bred
Some are sober and some are wasted
Some are rich because of fate and
Some are poor with no food on their plate
Some stand out while others blend
Some are fat and stout while some are thin
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most, yeah
Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world
Some are great and some are few
Others lie while some tell the truth
Some say poems and some do sing
Others sing through their guitar strings
Some know it all while some act dumb
Let the bassline strum to the bang of the drum
Some can swim while some will sink
And some will find their minds and think
Others walk while others run
You can’t talk peace and have a gun
Some are hurt and start to cry
Don’t ask me how don’t ask me why
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most, yeah
Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world
To Francis M, we know you’re in good hands. You’ve touched the heart of many people of all ages.
Your memories will live forever. May you rest in peace.
