Goodbye Francis M
There’s so much pain in my chest right now as I write this post after watching the opening number of the hosts and guests of the Philippine’s longest-running noontime variety show Eat Bulaga, in which Francis M was also a co-host. Francis Magalona, also known as “the Master Rapper”, passed away last Friday, March 6, due to to multiple organ failure secondary to severe sepsis and secondary to pneumonia. He was diagnosed wit leukemia in August 2008.
I am not a fan of hip-hop or rap music, but he’s the only rapper that I like. Francis M gave birth to the Pinoy rap with the release of his debut album “YO” in 1990. His kind of music is different from other local rappers because his music has a good sense. Through his kind of music, he was able to express the nationalistic part of him. He’s a proud Pinoy. With all his contributions to our country through his arts and talent, he has made us proud Filipinos, too.
I can also feel the pain of all the people who loves him as if I am also a friend of him because I know he has a good heart. It took me 2 hours to finish this short post because I am so busy watching the tribute show for him. Kaya eto, my eyes are swollen. Huhu. His passing is a big loss to the Philippines’ entertainment industry because he’s one of the best Pinoy Music artists. He’s a legend, an icon.
Here’s the lyrics of one of his songs that tells a good meaning.
Kaleidoscope World
So many faces, so many races
Different voices, different choices
Some are mad, while others laugh
Some live alone with no better half
Others grieve while others curse
And others mourn behind a big black hearse
Some are pure and some half-bred
Some are sober and some are wasted
Some are rich because of fate and
Some are poor with no food on their plate
Some stand out while others blend
Some are fat and stout while some are thinSome are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most, yeahEvery color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope worldSome are great and some are few
Others lie while some tell the truth
Some say poems and some do sing
Others sing through their guitar strings
Some know it all while some act dumb
Let the bassline strum to the bang of the drum
Some can swim while some will sink
And some will find their minds and think
Others walk while others run
You can’t talk peace and have a gun
Some are hurt and start to cry
Don’t ask me how don’t ask me whySome are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most, yeahEvery color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world
To Francis M, we know you’re in good hands. You’ve touched the heart of many people of all ages.
Your memories will live forever. May you rest in peace.
Litratong Pinoy: Bag
Time flies
Time really flies fast. It has been 15 years since I graduated in High School. I attended our High School’s Homecoming last January and met some of my former classmates and schoolmates. It’s a good feeling to reminisce those times, the kakulitan and all. We all have our own lives now. Some of my friends weren’t able to attend the homecoming because they are now settled abroad. Some are still unmarried and some became single parents. It’s good to know that some of us became professionals. We have engineers, doctors, nurse, accountant, and some of them also have a good sales career. Some of them have their own businesses.
I never thought that this would be such a big event. There were various group presentations. Our batch is one of the chosen participants for the program and some of my batchmates performed a dance number. Other batches also performed well. With their nice costumes and great performances, I can say that they all prepared very well for this event. Imagine even my senior citizens schoolmates performed too. It was such a fun and good experience. I’m looking forward to attending our next HS’s homecoming after 10 more years, wherein our batch will be the sponsor.
Here are some of the pictures during the event.
senior citizens who performed a dance number
and here’s the video of the senior citizen’s performance….Enjoy!
Lasang Pinoy Sunday: Wanton Noodle Soup
Haaay, I missed last week’s LaPiS. And now, though a bit late, won’t stop me from sharing my entry. ![]()
Here’s what I got for this week’s theme: TriColore, my Wanton Noodle Soup. Everytime I have no enough time to cook for dinner, I usually prepare this simple dish.
Here’s what you’ll need:
10-15 pcs store-brought siomai or wanton
8 cups of beef broth
250 g Chinese egg noodles, cooked based on packaging directions
Celery, chopped and blanched
1 medium carrot, chopped and blanched
Salt and pepper
Sesame oil
Here’s what to do:
For the beef broth, boil beef bones or any meat bone of your choice with lots of water and put 1 whole onion, a bunch of leeks, 1 tsp of whole pepper, and a stalk of celery. Let it simmer for at 1-2 hours. Use a strainer to make your soup clear. For the excess broth, I normally store it in a plastic or ice box, then put it in the freezer for future use.
Boil the meat broth and season with salt and pepper according to your taste. Put the siomai upon boiling and let it cook for about 3 minutes. Remove the siomai from the broth and set aside.
In a soup bowl, arrange the pre-cooked noodles, siomai, carrots, and celery. Then pour in the broth and put a dash of sesame oil before serving.
The colors of the carrots, celery, noodles and siomai made a wonderful tricolore, perfect for this week’s theme. So easy diba?
Ciao!
Weekend Snapshot: Sunday is Family Day
I’m late for this week’s weekend snapshot. These pictures are actually taken last week during our Sunday Jogging. Sunday is a family day for us, because it is hubby’s day-off. He works Monday thru Saturday that’s why we make sure that we spend our Sunday together.
We plan to jog every Sunday at the nearby subdivision. It is also the place where I practice driving. During that time, we discovered this part of the subdivision where few houses are built and vacant lots are still covered with water. According to hubby, this part of the subdivision is a former fish pen. So, we get our digicam and took pictures of the place.
Isn’t it beautiful? As if we’re not in a subdivision.
Haay, we have so many pictures that need to be printed. I should look for photo printers to let these photos be printed. Dami na talaga!
Ciao!
