Craving for fruits
Andre is not a fan of fruits. When his younger, he used to eat papaya and apple, but now, he doesn’t want to eat them anymore. I cannot blame him because I am not a fruit lover too. I know it’s bad because fruits are very healthy. Now, as a healthy step, I am again including fruits in my weekly market. My all-time favorite is ripe mango. I also eat guyabano, banana, pineapple, apple, orange, strawberry, avocado, lanzones, papaya, and sineguelas (also known as the Spanish plum). Aha! I haven’t seen guyabano and sineguelas in the market lately. I will look for them this weekend. I hope I can find one.
I remember during my stay in my hometown, Cavite, we never buy guyabano from the market because we have it in our backyard. We just have to ask someone to climb the tree to get the fruit. Oh, I miss those days. I also miss eating sineguelas. I remember my late maternal lola and aunts bringing boxes of sineguelas every time they visit us in Cavite. They picked them from their sineguelas trees (Spanish Plum trees) in Ilocos. We also used to sell them in our neighborhood because we can’t finish them all. An entrepreneur diba.
