I miss….

I miss Andre.
I miss working at home.
I miss blogging.
I miss cooking.
…and I miss “farming”. :D

It is very tiring to report to the office everyday. I wish this training won’t last long because I am not used to travelling everyday anymore. It will take 2.5 hours for me to be able to reach the office and another 3 hours to reach home. I hate the rush hour, the traffic. I think I need a break. A good whole body massage or an Outer Banks vacation will do. Hehehe! How I wish.

A new journey: Healthier lifestyle

I didn’t report to the office last Thursday and Friday due to

I had experienced shortness of breath and chest pain these past days. I suspect that they might be effects of the diet pill I am taking that was prescribed by my OB-Gyne. I also did some research on the side-effects of the pill and found out that these are two of the side effects. After 2 days of having this symptoms, I texted my OB-Gyne if it is normal to experience those. She called me and told me that I should stop taking the pill. This was the first time I experienced this while under this medication because I have tried taking them before but there was no side-effect. Maybe it has also something to do with the medication for my PCOS.

As of today, I already lost 7 pounds and plans to continue losing more pounds and having a healthy lifestyle. Changing my eating habits is a key. For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been controlling eating rice by having only a cup of it at lunch and no-rice for dinner. Since I now report to the office everyday for training, I eat cereals in the morning. I also prepare my baon, which include lunch and afternoon snack. I sometimes have pasta and a serving of meat for lunch and sandwich for snack. My baon also includes a serving of fruit. I would also love to jog at least thrice a week but it is impossible because I have to report to the office everyday. I hope the training won’t last that long so that we will be home-based again. But, I know there are still other options on how to burn fat indoors like walking on the treadmill or using a stationary bike. Hmmm…this sounds good. I will check the price of stationary bikes at the nearest mall later.

We should all start having a healthy lifestyle for us to have a better life. Join me in my latest journey on having a healthier lifestyle. I will try to share my healthy and easy recipes next time.

Ciao!

On PCOS, overweight, and baby #2

I gained so much weight and have been struggling to lose weight ever since I gave birth to Andre. He is now 3 years and 5 months old, yet I still carry almost the same weight I had before giving birth. I think this is my heaviest weight ever. It’s not easy being overweight and it has various disadvantages. Aside from having difficulties in choosing and wearing clothes, being overweight leads to various health problems like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

I was diagnosed with PCOS last April and have been under medication. PCOS is often caused by a hormonal imbalance brought on by Insulin Resistance-related obesity. It is a disorder that affects about 5-10% of all women, and is one of the leading causes of infertility. We’ve been trying very hard for my next pregnancy since last year, but until now I am still not pregnant.

I discovered that I have PCOS when I went to the OB-GYNE to check why I had blood spotting on my pantyliner. Since my OB-GYNE was not around that time, I went to another OB-Gyne to have my check up. I told the doctor that my menstruation period is delayed for 3 weeks, but not pregnant based on the result of the pregnancy test kit. The doctor asked me to have an ultrasound and found out that I have PCOS. Based on the ultrasound result, I have multiple abnormal cysts in the ovaries. Women with PCOS do not ovulate, which makes it impossible for them to conceive. Thus, this is the reason why I am having difficulty in getting pregnant. She advised me to take Provera for 5 days in the first month to regulate my monthly period, and for 10 days on the second month. I followed her instructions and had my regular period.

Last week, I decided to visit my real OB-GYNE to ask for a second opinion. She told me to stop taking Provera and advised me to take Metformin instead. I told her that we’ve been trying to have our second baby but having the hard time. She also told me that I have to lose weight if we’re planning to have Baby #2 because being overweight during pregnancy might lead to more problems like having gestational diabetes and high-blood pressure among others. I might also suffer again from pyelonephritis, which I experienced during my last pregnancy. She advised me to have a weight loss diet and suggested me to take Reductil, an anti-obesity medicine. I have tried taking them before and I really lost weight but gained the weight back again after taking medications and back to over-eating. :D

Depending on the physician, the treatment may include hormonal therapy comprising birth control pills, anti-androgen medications, and other special hormone-regulating drugs. I followed my OB-GYNE’s prescription. I am now taking Metformin and Reductil at the same time for treating PCOS and for losing weight, respectively. I’m on my 10th day and lost 5 pounds. I think it’s working on me. I am also on a low-carb diet and more water intake while taking these medications. I also plan to go jogging every weekend. My doctor gave me at least two months to lose weight before having our next baby for a lesser risk. I hope I can make it. :D

A dream travel destination

If given the chance to have a luxurious travel, one of the places that I’ve been dreaming to visit is Mexico. We love the beach and would like to experience vacationing in a tropical Mexican paradise in Ixtapa Mexico. Andre will surely enjoy it as much as he did during our Boracay escapade last September. He enjoys walking in the sand barefooted. He also loves the water and the waves. Haaay, I still wasn’t able to tell about our Boracay trip because I am too busy these past weeks due to several reasons: There was Typhoon Ondoy, which caused heavy floods in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, including ours. It flooded our house about 4-ft high. I also have to report to the office everyday because we have to undergo training for a new task. We have to leave Andre to my mother-in-law and let her bring Andre to school. Haaay, I miss being home. :) I wish the training won’t last long.

A friend is getting married

A close friend is getting married early next year. She asked me to help her out in their wedding preparations because her fiancé is London and would probably not be around during the wedding preparations. I lend her the magazines that I have used before and referred her to various wedding sites in the internet. I almost forgot that she is not an internet enthusiast, thus making me the one to do the researching. She told me that she wanted a tuxedo for her fiancé. She asked me to help her gather photos of men wearing a complete set of tuxedo, including tuxedo vest, pants, jacket, and accessories, so that she can show them to her fiancé. We are also looking for a nice place for the garden wedding and should make reservations na because their wedding is February next year. Wish us luck! I wish we could make their wedding simple, intimate, and unforgettable.

Looking for a new table lamp

Andre is used to sleeping with the lights off. But, it is difficult for me to look around everytime I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom because of my poor eyesight. We are thinking of buying a new light fixture to replace the damaged table lamp that was accidentally dropped by Andre. We will visit the nearest mall this weekend to take a look at some of their lampshades for our bedroom.
