Chocolate-Coffee Panna Cotta in Chocolate Syrup

I both love coffee and dark chocolates. I wander if I could combine them in one recipe. And guess what I’ve came up: My Coffee-Chocolate Panna cotta in Chocolate Sauce.

I’ve tried cooking panna cotta in strawberry sauce years ago and it was a hit. Now, I have tried combining two of my favorite foods in a single dish. Oh boy, it was sinfully delicious! The taste of the coffee and chocolate is perfectly combined. Not so sweet. I think I’ll be needing the best weight loss supplements to prevent me for gaining more weight because I’m back to my cooking sessions! Yahoo!!! I missed this!

So here are the ingredients:

2 90-g packs of unflavored gelatin (not unsweetened)
2 tbsp sugar (divided)
1 tbsp of strong instant coffee
1 bar of dark chocolate, chopped (I used Meiji)
400 ml of milk mixed with 400 ml of cream (divide into two)
100 ml of cream
½ bar of dark chocolate
Molders (I used ramekins)

Procedure:

Pour the contents of 1 packet of gelatin into a pan. Add the milk-cream mixture and 1 tbsp sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the gelatin and coffee are completely dissolved without allowing the mixture to boil.
Pour the coffee panna cotta into molds. Allow to set for about 3 minutes.

NOTE: Do not allow the coffee panna cotta to settle firmly because it won’t mold with the next layer (just like I did).  :) But, still, it tastes sinfully good!

Repeat the same procedure but replacing the coffee with dark chocolate. Pour the chocolate panna cotta into molds. Allow to set for about 5 minutes.

To serve, invert the panna cotta in a serving plate and drizzle with the chocolate syrup. Chilling is recommended.

Here’s how to make the chocolate syrup:

Pour 100 ml cream and the remaining chocolate in a pan. Cook over medium heat with constant stirring until the chocolate is melted.

Enjoy!

Something Japanese: California Maki

It was a very busy Saturday for me. I did the laundry, cleaned the house, and cooked 2 of my favorite foods, California Maki and Coffee-Chocolate Panna Cotta. While resting and reading about hgh supplements, I came across a site showing various Japanese foods and craved on sushi rolls. That’s what made me decide to make a California Maki. I’m glad that I still have all the ingredients needed, but this time I will be using ripe mango as one of the fillers.

So here are the ingredients and tools that you’ll need:

  • a bamboo mat, wrapped in plastic to avoid the rice from sticking into the mat
  • 2 cups of Japanese rice
  • ½ cup mirin
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Nori sheets
  • Japanese Mayonnaise
  • Riped mango, cut into strips
  • Crab sticks
  • Roe (can be bought in Japanese grocery, I also found one in Landmark Trinoma)
  • Black sesame seeds (can be bought in Japanese grocery)

Procedure:

Mix the vinegar and the sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

Cook until sugar has dissolved completely; remove from heat.

While the rice is still hot, stir the sugar-mirin mixture into the cooked rice.

Cover the bamboo mat with plastic wrap.

Put a sheet of dried seaweed on top of the mat. Spread sushi rice on top of the seaweed and press firmly.

Sprinkle sesame seeds and roe over the sushi rice. (This time, I asked Andre to assist me.)

Turn the sushi layer over so that the seaweed is on top. Place mango strips and crab sticks lengthwise on the seaweed.

Roll the bamboo mat forward, pressing the ingredients inside the cylinder-shaped sushi. Press firmly the bamboo mat with hands, then remove the rolled sushi.

Cut the sushi roll into bite-size pieces. Top with Japanese Mayonnaise upon serving.

Here’s the final product:

Fat burning products

Aside from regular work outs, I think I still need to take fat burning products to help me further loose weight. Have you heard about CARNIPURE? A friend suggested me to try it because it will help boost my metabolism. It is the purest form of L-Carnitine. L-Carnitine can now be commonly found in health drinks being sold in the market. I am not yet decided to try it because it is quite pricey. It is being sold at P2500 per bottle, which will only last for 2 weeks, and it is not available nationwide. It can be purchased at the Skinwise stall at SM Hypermart near Tiendesitas. I also found them in Sulit.com :) Haaay, ang hirap talaga magpapayat!!!

It’s weekend

It’s weekend again and it’s time for jogging. I haven’t jogged for almost 2 weeks due to several errands. I will be working out again tomorrow after missing the gym for 1 week. Now, I am back to zero. I have to start doing the best fat burning exercises that the trainer has been asking me to perform. Oh I miss working out, not to mention the muscle pain, :D I hope Abeth would be able to join me tomorrow.

LP: Husay

You make us proud Andre!

Working at home

Abeth and I have been updating our resumes for future use. And my sister, who is settled in Canada, is asking us to send her our resumes for reference. I’ve been in the same company for 10 years now and enjoying the home-based setup, while Abeth has been in his company for 7 years and still reporting to the factory 6 days/week. I’ve been in the same company and in the same position for 10 years, while Abeth has been promoted thrice. :) Having the same position for 10 years is fine with me as long as I am working home-based so that I can spend more time with our son and look after him while working at home. I am not actually a WAHM because I am still required to report to work twice a week. Not bad, eh! :)
