Working at home
Abeth and I have been updating our resumes for future use. And my sister, who is settled in Canada, is asking us to send her our resumes for reference. I’ve been in the same company for 10 years now and enjoying the home-based setup, while Abeth has been in his company for 7 years and still reporting to the factory 6 days/week. I’ve been in the same company and in the same position for 10 years, while Abeth has been promoted thrice.
Having the same position for 10 years is fine with me as long as I am working home-based so that I can spend more time with our son and look after him while working at home. I am not actually a WAHM because I am still required to report to work twice a week. Not bad, eh!
Wedding rings
My friend’s sister is getting married this year. My friend is the one who do most of the wedding preparations because her sister is in the US, while her fiancé is in the Philippines. She asked Abeth’s uncle, a jewelry maker, to make their wedding rings. The design they chose has diamonds and quite complicated. We told them that, aside from its complicated design, it would be very expensive because prices of gold as well as loose diamonds are expensive these days. We suggested trying to look for other designs so that it wouldn’t be that expensive and complicated because Abeth’s uncle makes wedding rings manually. The design they chose is machine-made and would be difficult to make using no machine. As of the moment, we’re still waiting for the new design.
We ran out of rice!!!
I started my day early today. I woke up at 6am, jogged for 45 minutes, and went to the market afterward. As early as 9am, I was so busy working and browsing the internet about various term life insurance rates. When I was about to cook my lunch, I realized that we have no rice to cook. I forgot to buy rice. Of course it did not make me panic, hehehe! Good for me, right? It’s very timely because I have started to eat less rice now. But, not for the husband, because he can’t live without rice. Since we won’t be spending our weekend at home, I will do my weekly marketing on Monday and will put rice on my number one list.
So what did I have for lunch?
We had leftovers inside the fridge, which include about ¾ cups of rice and last night’s Chicken Tonkatsu. I just reheated them in the microwave and voila! Instant menu! Hehehe. That’s the advantage of being left at home alone. No need to worry what to cook because I am not a picky-eater. I can live with bread and peanut butter spread, and most of all Non-fat milk.
Power napping
I decided to take a power nap a while ago because I felt so sleepy while doing my work. Studies show that 20 minutes of sleep in the afternoon provides more rest than 20 minutes more sleep in the morning. According to research, a nap can make your more alert, can reduce stress, and can improve cognitive functioning. Sleeping in the middle of the day, or a ‘power napping’, means more patience, better reaction time, less stress, increased learning, more efficiency, and better health. It is really effective. Another good thing about power napping is that you can relax your mind and it will make you more productive in your work afterward. I actually had a dream about ski vacation while napping. Hehehe. See, it will take you to places, hehehe! So every time you feel sleepy, take a power nap, it will surely improve your functioning.
