Are we safe from earthquake?
There have been earthquakes in different parts of the world, and our country is not spared from this calamity. I have actually watched a video from CNN about how ready are we when an earthquake hits Manila. Here’s the video:
I’m afraid we are not. We have several buildings and houses that are too old and substandard. Buildings here are not safe because of contractors that are corrupt. I hope our local contractors are certified with the Building Performance Institute (BPI) in the US, a leading developer of technical standards for home performance and weatherization retrofit work that are recognized across North America. Like them, our local contractors should undergo bpi training. We should all be prepared.
Eczema in babies
Yesterday, we went to Andre’s pedia to have his flu shot. We waited for more than an hour because there were so many patients and we weren’t able to go to the clinic earlier because Andre woke up at 9:30 AM. I’m glad we brought the PSP to entertain him so that Andre won’t get bored waiting for his turn because we will be entertained after patient number 16 pa. There were so many patients and I noticed one of the babies with reddish and scaly face. I asked the mom what happened to the baby and told me that it was eczema. I felt bad for the baby because she was so irritated that time because of the itchy feeling.
Surprised
Tomorrow is Andre’s 4th birthday celebration. We invited some of our closest friends and closest relatives to celebrate with us. One of my cousins arrived at our house today and I was so surprised to see her having too many pimples on her face. She used to have a very good skin, but now, she had acne all over her face. She didn’t know what causes this pimple outbreak. So, I recommended her to consult a dermatologist and ask the best acne treatment lotion that will help treat her skin problem. I hope she’ll be able to get rid of them. She’s pretty pa naman.
Balikbayan
My cousin, together with her husband, went home from UAE for a vacation and to spend time with their two children. Most, or almost, every Filipino Balikbayans don’t come home with no Balikbayan boxes that are filled with various stuff, from cigars to perfumes, from soap to lotions, from used clothes to chocolates, from shoes to canned goods, to name a few. They don’t come home without any “pasalubong” to their relatives even though they have the not so high-paying jobs abroad. What’s important is they should have something to give to their relatives when they went back to the Philippines. I remember my parents’ first time to go to the US. They went back to the Philippines with 2 huge Balikbayan boxes full of different stuff. They thought that they are expected to give each and everyone a “pasalubong” because they’ve been in the US. This is the mentality of Filipinos that I hate, most especially those who live in the province, because they thought that when a person works overseas, they’re wealthy na. They don’t know how hard it is to work overseas and being away to your family.
