my thoughts
Staffing consultant
My sister currently works as a staffing consultant at a staffing and recruitment company in Canada. I sometimes help her to find applicants here in the Philippines whenever there are career opportunities available that will suit Filipino experienced workers. She contacts, screens, and selects qualified people for a particular job. Some of the positions available include engineering jobs, Webmaster Jobs, teaching jobs, and even offshore jobs. I hope she can help our fellow countrymen that are qualified for a certain position because she knows how competitive and hardworking our kababayans are.
Life is a journey
Life is a journey.
“We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way. ”
by Gloria Gaither

A heavy heart. These past few days, there’s this feeling inside me that I hold. I feel so sad for a person, who is currently in a depressing journey trying to get back to her true self. I barely knew this person, but I feel the desire to offer help in my own simple way. I just don’t know how to start and I am not sure if I am in the right position to do it. I just want to have a talk with this person to know what she has been going through. I think this person needs someone to talk to. I know she has friends but we all know for a fact that there are different types of friends. Friend do come and go. Only a few will stay with you through thick and thin with whom you can share all your issues in life. In this journey of life, a person needs someone with whom you can talk to without hesitations and reservations. And I am so blessed to have friends whom I can share all my issues in life although we do not meet as much as we can, but we know in our heart that we can still count with each other in times of needs. And of course, God’s most wonderful blessing to me is a husband that I consider my “bestest” friend ever.
I hope and pray that she would overcome this stage in her journey.
Here’s a poem from an anonymous author.
“When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”
The Internet – advantages & disadvantages
Writing is not my cup of tea. I never imagined myself working for a company to do writing jobs because I believe I am not an excellent writer. I used to hate writing essays in school during high school days as well as my Public Speaking subject in college. Isn’t that ironic that I am – and still – working with the same company for 12 years to write abstracts for articles involving several topics related to chemistry. And now, I own and write this blog for more than 4 years now.
There is a vast amount of information available on the internet for every subject that interests every person, like photography, diet trends, technical support, how-to-do procedures, new gadgets, and even grammar tips. During my high school years, internet is not yet widely available. Today, students are luckier because the availability of Internet is widespread wherein they can use it for various school projects, research works, and even finding free online essays for their homeworks.
But, as with every innovation, internet has its own advantages and disadvantages. For me, it has been a huge advantage because it allows me to work in greater flexibility in the comfort of our home. I do not have to report to work everyday and experience daily traffic and jam-packed MRT ride. I can just download the files and send them to the office via email. Internet is also a very effective way to buy and sell products worldwide. And I know some of many “netrepreneurs” that succeeded. And most of all, it is a great way to get connected with old friends, relatives, and colleagues through various social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Tumbler.
However, the Internet has also disadvantages. When you use the Internet, your personal information, such as your name, address, contact numbers, etc., can be accessed by other people. Some people can hack your accounts like credit cards and access them and use them without permission. Another issue concerning the use of Internet, especially when it comes to young children, is Pornography. There are lots of pornographic sites on the Internet that can be easily accessed by young people. That’s why parents should be cautious in monitoring how their children use the internet. I hope we can properly handle it when the time comes when my son will have his own Facebook account and learn to visit prohibited sites.
So, we should all use the Internet properly and wisely to enjoy all its benefits.
Pedring’s aftermath
A day after Typhoon Pedring hit the country and floodwater is still more than 1 foot deep, we – hubby, Andre, and I – roamed around the village riding our motorbike to check Pedring’s aftermath. We were so astounded by several fallen trees. Some of the houses and even cars were flooded. We’re so glad that, this time, we didn’t experience being flooded inside the house despite heavy rains and flashfloods from the nearby river. But, unfortunately, some of our neighbors experienced flood inside their house, and some of their furniture and stuff, including my friend’s new enzo angiolini shoes. Classes were suspended for 2 days and our electricity supply was restored Wednesday night. Abeth wasn’t able to report to work for 2 days because of heavy flooded areas. We’re glad that we have stocks of canned goods and our emergency lights were all full-charged. However, we have to save our cellphone batteries to communicate with my in-laws who were also affected by heavy floods.
Here are some of the photos of Pedring’s aftermath.
Unfortunately, there’s a new typhoon that will hit the country on weekend. We hope and pray that there would be less damage and floodwater. We will go to the supermarket later to buy food and batteries in preparation to the next typhoon.
Meet Nikki

I want you to meet Nikki, my new DSLR. She will be my constant buddy when it comes to taking photos. I will be using her to share with you our life’s adventures, food trips, and travels through our photos. It was a birthday gift from hubby given a few weeks before my actual birthday. It wasn’t really intended to be bought as early as August because we are planning to purchase a new one by December, which will depend on our Christmas bonuses.
But, unfortunately, our D60 malfunctioned and needs to be repaired. Hubby tried to repair the D60 by following the instructions from the internet. It worked but after taking a few shots, the error recurred.
Thus, we decided to purchase a new one for our El Nido trip next week. But, we will bring the D60 to a service center after our trip. It should be repaired.
As of now, we are praying and hoping for a good weather next week. Wish us luck!
