Our DSLR needs repair
Last Saturday, when I am about to take a photo of Andre using our DSLR, an error appeared on the LCD: ERROR – PRESS SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON AGAIN. But, as I pressed the shutter button, it didn’t work. I tried several times pressing the button, but the same error appeared. I even tried taking out the battery but didn’t work as well. I was so upset because I know that there is something wrong with the camera. So, I waited for my husband to come home and showed him the error. We searched the internet for this type of error and learned the solutions to it. I hope that the solution we found would work because we need the camera for our El Nido trip. Hubby told me that if it won’t work we have no choice but to buy a new one. Then I smiled. What an early birthday gift. Besides, it’s much cheaper than diamond rings as present.
Recycling Rainwater
It has been raining and had several typhoons since June and I hope that there would be no Ondoy-like typhoons. We all know that Typhoon Ondoy is such a devastating experience. Actually, I’m still worried whenever there is a non-stop rain. Let’s just hope and pray that it won’t happen again.
But, there are several advantages of rain and we are enjoying one of them: no need to water the plants in the garden!
The lazy me! Hehehe! You can also recycle the rainwater and use them to water your plants during summer season by building a rainwater collection system. This rainwater collection system can be made using used and cleaned polyethylene drums or steel drums. This improvised technology could be used, not only at home, but also for providing water for livestock and water for irrigation. Currently, this is being practiced around the world, including China, Brazil, India, and even Australia. So, I think this would be a nice idea to our local farmers in the Ilocos Region who are in need of water for their agricultural lands.
Roadside assistance
A few nights ago, my husband received a call from one of their truck drivers. The truck driver told him that their truck had an engine problem in the express way while they are on their way to deliver their product to one of their customers in Laguna. My husband got used to receiving calls from their drivers in the middle of the night due to their truck’s road glitches. He is responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of all their trucks, including deliveries. Since there was no available auto-mechanic that time, their truck was towed and has to pay for the corresponding towing fee. Towing fees in SLEX are too pricey. Imagine you have to pay an initial fee of Php5000 plus additional charges for the succeeding kilometers. He wants to suggest to their company to have roadside assistance club so that they can save money whenever their trucks need roadside assistance.
On Life Insurance
Months ago, Hubby and I thought of availing life insurance for ourselves since we aren’t insured yet. However, he has an accident insurance as a company benefit. Though we are both members of Philhealth and SSS, which also have social security disability benefits, we still want to have a Life Insurance. Unlike before, Life Insurance companies nowadays offer new schemes. It’s more of a savings, wherein you pay for the yearly premium and get about 80% of the total amount you paid upon maturity of your plan. And, the good part of it is that, you’re life is insured. We have yet to determine the best insurance company that has better benefits.
But recently, hubby told me that their company is thinking of availing Life Insurance for their regular employees. The company will shoulder half of the yearly premium and the half will be shouldered by their employees. Not bad diba? This is another blessing. Thank you Lord.
Restaurant Business
A friend of mine is planning to start a small restaurant business and asks me if I could help them out. She asked me where to find restaurant supplies and food suppliers. I told her that I still have some restaurant supplies left from our previous canteen and could have it at a very much lower price. We had a small canteen 3 years ago but decided to bring it to an end after more than 1 year due to difficulty in finding responsible, honest, and trustworthy workers. Workers with these qualities are difficult to find.
I am a chef wannabe and having a small canteen was a dream come true for me because I was able to share my cooking with others. Thus, I felt sad when we decided to close the canteen because it is what I love doing but, sadly, not worthy to give-up my office work at that time. So, I reminded her that for her to be able to succeed in this kind of business, it is important that she handles the business personally and whole-heartedly. Additionally, she should know each and every operation of her restaurant, including the recipes and the food they will serve. Wishing you good luck my friend!
